My friend Gabriella Aldeman hosted a reading for her first picture book, Paula’s Patches, at the Patrick Henry Library in Vienna yesterday. Gabriella and I first met several years ago at our children’s Spanish immersion preschool. She’s one of the most kind-hearted people I’ve ever met and that kindness shines through in her work.
Released by one of my favorite publishing houses, Free Spirit, Paula’s Patches is a touching and beautifully illustrated story that is sure to build empathy among children. After the reading, which my kids really enjoyed, we got to do a fun crafting activity to make a pouch from a patch of clothing. If you’re looking for a great read that builds fundamental values, pick up a copy of Paula’s Patches here.
